Just Polkadaisies & 2 stylish cuties!

As I sit here typing, I am wondering just how many cupcakes I have eaten today. In the past 3 or 4 days, we have baked brownies, muffins, cupcakes, and cookies and I have eaten more than my share. Oh, lets not forget about the cinnamon buns my mom brought us from Cinnabon. Thank goodness my new year's resolution was not about losing weight. I do, however, need to drop about 10 pounds before summer, but I still have time for that, right?

I was anxious for Friday to come around this week (not any different from most weeks) because Richard was off and I was taking the night off. We fried chicken and done some baking before we sat down to watch a movie. The kids played hard all day since we didn't have school because of snow, so they were ready to relax and watch a little TV in bed. Well, at least that's what I thought they were doing while our movie was on. Toward the end of the movie they came into the living room to show us their outfits. I was so tickled with what they had come up with. They weren't relaxing in the bedroom, they were playing dress up in our closet. Sadie has on one of my skirts with her daddy's tie tied around it as a sash. She is also wearing my black boots. Gavin is wearing his daddy's Loud Mouth golf shorts and vans. He is holding the pants up with one of Rich's belts. They were so proud of themselves and of course I thought they were pretty creative. Who can fuss at them for not wanting to watch TV and wanting to play dress up? Not me!

It has been a very productive day here at our place. Richard and my dad spent all day and all evening putting Richard's work car back together. The car has been sitting for some time now because of some parts having to be rebuilt, but it came back to life today. You should have heard the kids holler when the car started up. They opened the door and shouted "Good job daddy and papaw!" I don't know if they were that excited about the car being fixed or the fact that they could now have their daddy. They had waited all day to play and as soon as he came up the stairs, Sadie told him to get a shower that they were ready to play. Game on!

Mom called fairly early and told me she would be down to help me clean the sewing room. I didn't know if that was something I wanted to do today, considering I was going to take the day off, but she was willing and I knew it needed to be done. I would have never gotten it done without her help. I couldn't believe we got almost everything done that we wanted to do. I was so excited that I had to take some pictures of it. Anyone who knows me and has been up in the room, knows that it gets out of hand at times. It just gets hectic and when I am rushed or in a time crunch, picking up is just something I let go. We are hoping to move things from this room soon since we have outgrown the space, so again, I wanted some pictures of it while it was clean.

Yes, this is it clean. I should have taken a before and after picture so you could appreciate our efforts more. Believe me, BIG improvement!

After everyone went to bed tonight, I stayed up and worked on some projects. I clearly have my nights and days mixed up because I am up all hours of the night. My first project was to finish a wreath. I will try to get a closeup of it later once I put it in the house but you can see it hanging on the clothes rack above. Sadie and I started earlier, but she was over it soon so I finished it tonight. I also went down in our basement where we keep all of those things that people might consider trash but I consider treasures. Richard swears it is all my stuff, but it's not. Anyway, I was on the hunt for a mirror. I wasn't sure if we still had one, but I knew there was a good chance that we might. After making a couple of trips through the basement I found one. A goldish/reddish, antique mirror that was probably about to be on it's way out (getting ready to clean basement out)soon was saved today. I painted it white in hopes that it will look good above my mantel. I have ordered new 16x20" pictures of the kids to hang on the walls beside the mantel. So I would guess you could say the mantel or whole wall is getting a makeover. You would think it was spring time around here, but in the midst of all this snow I have decided to do a few things around the house. My next project is taking the dreaded wallpaper boarder (YUCK!) off my kitchen walls. I'm giving that project to Richard though. I'm also going to paint my cabinets and walls. My mom will be so proud if I get it all done before lake time. Keep your fingers crossed for me. If things go as well as they did today, we will get lots done around here before summer.

It's an obsession!! To beat it all, there's more hidden from the ceiling to the floor in the bathroom behind the closed door. Haha! Look forward to the next time Sandi! I think you, your sister, and that mama of yours all rock!!!
